About Magdalena
I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember. My mum taught me to knit, my auntie taught me to crochet, and I haven’t stopped making since. I always went for making from scratch, so I learned how to spin and dye yarns. When my kids were little I started a small business, Stitching a Rainbow, making bespoke patchwork blankets for kids. Frustrated that I could never find the right fabric I went to college to learn how to make my own.
I thought printing would be my calling but I fell in love with weaving the moment I touched the loom. Five years later I graduated with a Master’s degree in textile design, bewitched by alpaca fibre and wool. My graduate collection of British alpaca scarves, Soft Stories was the inspiration for my brand name.
Along the way I rediscovered my love for teaching. I realised that I want to give everyone a skill and confidence to work with fibres and yarns. And help everyone to tell their own soft stories through textiles.
